Essex captured Vermont's Division 1 championship with a 48-14 victory over Rutland. The Burlington Free Press reports that Essex was led by quarterback Max Librizzi, who completed all but five of his 29 passes for 386 yards and three scores.

Cochester captured its first Vermont high school football championship since 1998 with a 22-14 win over Champlain Valley Saturday. The Burlington Free Press reports that the Lakers had to comeback from its first halftime deficit of the season.

After two straight losses in the Vermont Division III championship game, Windsor finally got over the hump Saturday beating Springfield 19-8. The Burlington Free Press reports that the win avenged last season's 52-28 championship loss to Springfield.

Vermont's regular season closed-out Saturday. While no playoff spot was on the line, Vermont's oldest high school football rivalry was renewed. Lyndon (2-7) beat St. Johnsbury (3-6) 14-0 in the 105th game between the two. St. Johnsbury still leads the series 58-41-6.
